RvR Video from the Roleplay Convention

Understanding what videos are and where they’re from is difficult when everything is in a different language, but I’m fairly positive this is a video from the recent Roleplay Convention 2008.

You can also see another video over at Jeux Online.

WAR at New York Comic Con

The official Warhammer Online site’s press coverage page has been updated with some links to related videos of New York Comic Con. I believe I’ve reported on all the videos already, but if you didn’t get much Comic Con goodness then here are the videos:

Warhammer Online Presentation (Video)
Ten Ton Hammer interview with Bob Mull (Video)
Ten Ton Hammer Q&A with Jeff, Paul, and Josh (Video)
Warhammer Conflict Interview with Jeff, Paul, and Josh (Video)
MMORPG.com interview with Jeff, Paul, and Josh

WAR-Welten.de back from Roleplay Convention

Previously I posted that WAR-Welten.de were going to the Roleplay Convention. Well now they’re back with plenty of goodies. It’s all in German so unfortunately I can’t read the overview of the day, but if you scroll to the bottom of the post there is a bunch of links to videos and images which is what we really want!

Jeux Online at GamesDay 2008

image The crew at Jeux Online were recently at Games Day 2008 (April 20th) and they’ve written up a nice article on the event which luckily has an English version.

A recurring trend for Warhammer Online booths is still existent, "…staring at the huge lineup to play the game, it was a success." Also, in contrast with many concerns of the past, "We’ve also been quite surprised by the quality of the game’s visuals. Being honest, the rendering is pretty decent, without going into lyrism, the animations are fine and fluid and the combats are pleasant and attractive" - that’s definitely good to hear. I was certainly concerned about the animation (especially in combat) within past videos although Mythic did address that they were going to work on them so those concerns faded fairly quick.

Overall it’s a great write up of the day and has a couple of screenshots of the game in action, so it’s worth a look.

Another convention

imageNot that I’m complaining but it was hard enough to report on everything from Comic Con in New York!

The convention is known as the Roleplay Convention (fitting name I guess) and will be held in Munster, Germany over the weekend (April 25th-26th). It’s difficult to report on a convention that isn’t in my own language, so you should probably just check out WAR-Welten for coverage (as well as an overview of the convention). I’ll do my best to scrounge up any videos I find of the event over the next few days.

Tons of Comic Con Videos

image I can’t believe I missed reporting on all of these videos, so thanks to Warhammer Geek for posting about them today.

Warhammer Conflict has a plethora of videos from Comic Con, more than any other site I believe, and here they are:

Paul Barnett’s “Waaagh!!!” Practice
Paul Barnett’s “Blooper Reel”
NY Comic Con: EA Mythic’s Presentation (Part 1)
NY Comic Con: EA Mythic’s Presentation (Part 2)
NY Comic Con: EA Mythic’s Presentation (Part 3)
NY Comic Con: EA Mythic’s Presentation (Part 4)
NY Comic Con: EA Mythic’s Presentation (Part 5)
Bonus Video! Paul in Thong v2.0

I didn’t realize Comic Con would bring so much WAR-goodness!

MMORPG Trends and Issues

Ten Ton Hammer has both the Moderator Q&A and Audience Q&A for the MMORPG Developer Panel at NY Comic Con. Whilst not directly related to WAR, it has the good ol’ Hickman in it, along with:

  • Age of Conan Game Designer Jason Stone
  • Turbine VP of Product Development Craig Alexander
  • 38 Studios VP of Creative Development Scott Cuthbertson
  • EVE Online Game Designer Matt Woodward.

(I’m posting this at 3:22am, sorry if I screwed up somewhere)

Video interview with ‘those guys’ from Mythic

imageSome great content is still flowing in from Comic Con! But seriously, we just can’t get enough of these guys. Ten Ton Hammer’s Garret Fuller spent a few minutes with Paul Barnett, Jeff Hickman, and Josh Drescher and all their crazy antics just before Comic Con started. Kind of makes me want to get a real job…for a minute.

WAR’s Booth at Comic Con

This is the first image I’ve seen of WAR’s booth at Comic Con, and sadly it’s the only one this site posted, nevertheless lets all bask in its glory as it does look like a pretty sweet booth.

I found this image at Newsarama.com and there are some other great photos of Comic Con there too.

MMORPG.com with Josh, Jeff & Paul

image

At this year’s New York Comic Con, Managing Editor Jon Wood had the chance to talk with Josh Drescher, Jeff Hickman and Paul Barnett about the perception held by some that their roles at EA Mythic are purely PR. The three talk openly about their roles at the company beyond what we see at shows, in video dev dairies and elsewhere.

What can I say about this? If you can’t get enough off Josh, Jeff, and Paul then you’ll definitely get your fix from the article, as for nuggets of Warhammer Online information, you’ll have to keep looking.
