Yes, I know I’ve really been neglecting this blog, and for that I apologize. Being in my final year of school it’s hard to keep motivated to write a constant stream of articles when I’m being constantly on the receiving end of assignments, homework, etc.
However, I have not given up on Warhammer Gamers, I am merely taking a break from the posting of news, and will be changing the direction of the site (slightly) in the future. Instead of reporting on every little news tid bit, I’ll be focusing on creating video content, and features such as How To’s, strategies, etc.
Announcing Warhammer Online Mods
Okay, this isn’t much of an announcement as I’ve got nothing to show off it really, but nevertheless, I’ve got some neat ideas. Basically I picked up WarhammerOnlineMods.com and I thought it was quite a nice domain name and believed it deserved to be developed. Currently if you go to Warhammer Online Mods you’ll just see a “coming soon” page, but there is also a description of what I want it to be.
As a quick summary, Warhammer Online Mods will be a place for developers to store their creations (add ons, user interfaces, external utilities etc) for free, and also keep gamers up to date with any development progress etc. Basically, the developers will have a free place to store their work, and gamers will have a single place they can go to and get a number of great tools from (at least, that’s the plan).
And remember…
I’m not abandoning Warhammer Gamers, and will still be participating (and promoting) our Warhammer Online Forum, and of course, our awesome Warhammer Online Contest. How I was updating the site before was very unproductive, which is why I’ve been spending my “time off” thinking of content I can create that is useful, within my ability, yet won’t take up my entire day.

Woops. Fixed.
June 26th, 2008I hope it will not be required to use as many mobs as I had to use when I played WoW. Most of it should be included in the basic UI.
July 1st, 2008Its not that WoW requires mods. Its because WoW built such a customizable interface that people used it to enhance their game play. This in turned either made guilds or even players “think” they needed mods, to either satisfy the whims of a guild, to make things easier, or to even keep up with less skilled players who used mods to gain an advantage. However, I can’t say there is a single mod that I couldn’t live without.
Personally, I have enjoyed the Beta thus far and look forward to the release and having an alternative to WoW, if not a replacement. Blizzard has been ignoring serious issues like BG farming, imbalanced classes due to trying to accommodate PvE vs PvP play, gold farmers, economy fixing, etc. Instead they have just introduced more mindless things to keep people playing and farming. If they would have concentrated on the meaningful stuff, there would be more guilds and servers on T4-T6 content than there is. Why work for endgame content when you can do nothing and get welfare gear… Don’t get me wrong, I love PvP content, but it is often ruined by afkers, noobs in blue and greens, and by the kids that just want to beat up on someone else instead of going for the bg objective. Warhammer appears to eliminate most if not all of that, as well as provide PvE content. With WotLK coming soon, the same guild breakups will occur as before BC. Why go for endgame content and gear when WotLK will soon be out and most of it will be useless once again. Not to mention, with all of the new class changes, get ready for the masses to yell that another is OP (and rightfully so) as it will take months if not years before Blizz decides to do something. The cycle starts all over again. If WoW customers continue to put up with it because there isn’t a real alternative to WoW, then Blizz will never change. Go Warhammer!!! If for no other reason than to get Blizz to change its ways.
So far, Mythic/EA have my vote and money. I have enjoyed the Beta and the PvE and RvR gameplay.
